Cookery Classes a Big Hit

Since moving to our new premises it has enabled us to put cookery classes back on our curriculum in our purpose built school kitchen area. The classes have proved to be a huge hit with all of our learners who are keen to learn how to cook the foods that they enjoy.

We have had many requests including fajitas, sausage rolls, Christmas cake, cheese cake, cup cakes, home made cheese burgers, to name a few. Some of the food gets taken home for lucky parents to sample, but most gets eaten before learners have left the kitchen.

All cooking involves huge amounts of maths and English throughout in the measuring of ingredients, calculating what the measurements should be for more portions and reading and discussing the recipe.  A fun, and rewarding, way of learning.
