Students Rewarded for Hard Work and Qualification Success

We are very proud to announce that this year, despite exceptionally difficult circumstances due to COVID-19 and school closures our learners have achieved record qualifications. Due to the hard work of our learners and staff Peregrinate School attained a huge success with exam results and certificates awarded. We achieved this by daily contact with learners AND their families, daily delivery and collection of classwork, ZOOM lessons, our own Intranet providing documentation and self marking online mock examinations.

Under normal circumstances we would have held our usual Celebration of Qualifications & School Leavers Ceremony but due to COVID-19 the event had to be cancelled. Instead we decided to treat learners for their success and hard work by taking them on several COVID safe fun filled field trips.

As a school we visited Chester Zoo and took part in one of the Zoos Educational Workshops. Learners found this great fun and highly informative with all learners taking an active role in the workshop. We spent a full day at the zoo and had a picnic lunch.

We also went to Allerton Towers where again the learners took part in all activities and outdoor pursuits run by the Youth Challenge Trust. This was a full day activity and a full list of the many activities can be found here. All learners had a great time at Allerton Towers exploring outdoor pursuits many had never tried before. A bonus from this visit was that all learners now know that abseiling does not take place on water or in a boat! One learner was so impressed that she took herself back to Allerton Towers the following day to enrol as a volunteer for the outdoor team.

Another field trip was to Flip Out in Aintree. Here learners were able to practice their trampolining skills in the most up to date areas where trampolines and slides are laid out in obstacle course styles. They took part in several Wipeout style challenges which kept the competitive feeling of the day.

Keeping with the active theme learners have also been ten pin bowling at Ocean Plaza in Southport. This is an annual event and learners are always keen to win or beat the record scores.

Another annual event we enjoyed again this year was in the Escape Rooms in Liverpool. This years room was particularly significant as it was called OUTBREAK and involved a virus that had been steadily infecting the population of the United Kingdom, turning them into Zombies. Our learners had not been infected and were on the run from the walking dead. They came across an abandoned shop thinking it would be the perfect place to stock up on water and food only to find out they were trapped inside when a group of infected souls start banging on the door. They barricade the door and need to look for an alternate escape before the infected horde breaks down the door in 60 minutes!

On a more leisurely activity we took learners to see the new release Space Jam at the Showcase Cinema de Lux in Fazakerley where they were able to sit back in luxury seating and eat popcorn, sweets & nachos whilst drinking large drinks.

Finally, having done several educational classes on nature, the environment and the living species we went to the Blue Planet Aquarium in Ellesmere Port. Leaners were amazed at the many different marine life here and of course the species that received the most attention were the sharks!

So, despite not being able to have our usual Celebration of Achievement and Leavers Ceremony, our learners have not missed out and have instead enjoyed many days out on field trips.
