Peregrinate School Hosts Macmillan Coffee Morning

Peregrinate School Hosts Macmillan Coffee Morning

Learners and Staff planned and took part in the 2018 Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday 28th September. This is the third year Peregrinate have supported this cancer charity. The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. People all over the UK hosted their own Coffee Mornings and donations on the day are made to Macmillan. Last year alone peoples coffee mornings  raised over £27 million and everyone is hoping we can make this another successful year.

Learners helped to plan, make posters and calculate ingredients and costs for the cakes which apart from being fun went towards English and mathematics course work. They then helped serve cakes and tea and coffee to invited guests on the day and of course helped in eating the many cakes which had been baked and bought by staff and guests.

How did Macmillan all begin?

The first ever Coffee Morning happened way back in 1990. It was a rather small affair with a simple idea: guests would gather over coffee and donate the cost of their cuppa to Macmillan in the process. It was so effective, they did it again the next year – only this time nationally. Since then, Coffee Morning has raised over £200 million for Macmillan.
