Learners Research New Mersey Retail Park

As part of their Retail qualifications our learners spent the day at New Mersey Retail Park in Speke. They were tasked with looking into the set up of the whole park, placement of the various shops, types of shops and food outlets available. They also had to judge which shop had the best window display.

The educational visit was organised by Adele, our Lead Retail Specialist, who had prepared a series of questions relevant to the New Mersey Retail Park. The questionnaire ensured that all learners gained maximum benefit from the visit.

Learners worked in groups each with two members of staff. They had to walk around the estate looking at each shop, its placement and what they sold. Each learner was required to draw a plan of the New Mersey Retail Park and itemise where each shop and food outlet was within the park.

The results were outstanding and learners clearly enjoyed the experience. Peregrinate would like to thank Russell, Manager of the New Mersey Retail Park, for helping to organise the visit.

Their findings will be included in their retail portfolios. Future lessons will be around customer service from two of the shops within the New Mersey Retail Park. Learners will write a letter of complaint to a shop regarding a purchase and also write a response to a similar complaint as if they were an employee of the shop. This will go towards their customer service qualification.

We would like to also thank the Manager and Staff at Pizza Hut on the New Mersey Retail Park for their fantastic welcome and service to us all during our lunch break. Learners dined on a selection of pizzas, pastas, unlimited salads and drinks. The manager put on some special pizzas and the staff did a great job in looking after our group. Thank you so much for adding the perfect topping to our day out.
