An Afternoon Tea Celebration of Achievement

An Afternoon Tea Celebration of Achievement

On Wednesday 21st March 2018, Peregrinate held a Celebration of Achievement for our current cohort of Learners. We invited proud parents and family, Learners, School representatives, Council representatives, Social Workers, and our School Nurse to an afternoon tea of celebration. This year our Learners have, so far, achieved over 30 qualifications between them with all having gained at least English and Maths qualifications and we believed that this was worth celebrating as well as giving us the opportunity to invite all of these important people to see our shiny new premises.

The Learners helped in the preparation for the event, this effort was not wasted as the experience goes towards a qualification in retail. Our Head teacher Angela gave a short welcome and presentation before the awards ceremony started. Visitors were able to see the individual certificates for each Learner and then some special awards were presented to some outstanding Learners.

Three Learners received Awards for Excellent Attendance having had 100% attendance. Peregrinate runs a reward scheme each month where students who have 100% attendance are taken for a special day out as a treat. Last month was a days go carting, this month is a trip to see the terracotta warriors at the Liverpool World Museum.

Two Learners received Awards for Kindness having shown many acts of kindness towards other learners AND staff throughout the year.

One Learner received an Overall Achievement Award for his hard work and effort each day. This was especially pleasing as the student is only year 10 and is an exceptional achievement for him.

All award winners received a bouquet of goodies made by a member of our staff. This was clearly a very proud moment for everyone, learners, parents and teaching staff and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. We believed this was an achievement by all of our learners and for them to have obtained over 30 qualifications so far this year is definitely worth celebrating. Angela described how the learning does not stop here.

During the Summer Term Year 11 Learners are now working towards completion of:

BTEC Level 1 Award in Retail, BTEC Level 1 Award in Construction or Hair and Beauty, Level 2 Course in Working Safely

Whilst the Year 10 Learners are working towards;

BTEC Level 1 Functional Skills English & Maths, BTEC Level 1 Award in retail Knowledge, BTEC Level 1 Award in Construction or Hair & Beauty, Level 2 Course in Working Safely

Immediately after the awards ceremony guests were provided with a finger buffet and a fantastic Peregrinate cake as well as Peregrinate cup cakes to take home.

A rewarding and fantastic day for everyone involved!
